About Me - Health
I am a registered nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition, have an MSc in Public Health Nutrition and a PhD in Nutrition.
I have worked for over a decade as a senior lecturer and researcher in nutrition, giving me a wealth of experience in presenting to groups of all sizes. It also helps to keep me up to date with current research and recommendations, which feeds into my practice as a nutrition consultant. I have also developed and led a MSc degree programme in Public Health Nutrition at Liverpool John Moores University, which has enabled me to work and collaborate with various community groups and organisations.
I have worked on a range of projects assessing health, diet, physical activity and wellbeing in various settings and populations, including an assessment of the physical activity and eating habits of children across Wigan; the health and social benefits of group walking in older adults; and the inter-related health benefits of outdoor expeditions for young people. I have worked with organisations providing nutritional advice and guidance, with community groups producing healthy eating guidelines and the Rural Regeneration Unit improving the uptake of food cooperatives. I therefore understand that different organisations and groups have different needs and enjoy trying to deliver positive change.
Through my work as a one-to-one nutrition consultant I have worked with individuals covering areas such as: weight loss and maintenance; healthy eating; fatigue; family health and menu planning.
